Mike Bloomberg’s Moderate yet Pro-Active Stance on Guns
In terms of contentiousness, Gun Control or 2nd Amendment Rights is among the hottest of presidential potatoes. If you are a Republican you must be pro-gun, if the Democratic side you must be anti-gun, well, what about the rest of us? What does a moderate stance on guns look like?
Yesterday, a group called Mayors Against Illegal Guns sent out a survey to each and every presidential candidate, asking them their views on the: Access To Data, Toughening Punishment, Enforcement Of Federal Law, Military-Style Assault Weapons And Local Police Funding And Rising Violent Crime.
There shouldn’t be too much surprise that Mike Bloomberg is among the most visible members of this Bi-Partisan Coalition. What I do find particularly appealing is that instead of pulling a Rudy Giuliani or a Mitt Romney (trying to dodge reality), Mike Bloomberg is taking a stand for his issues (illegal guns) and offering innovate policy solutions. That my friends is the difference between pandering and leadership.

I don’t hear anything that tells me whether or not he supports gun owner rights. He is mayor of a city with gun control and extremely high crime, which always go hand-in-hand. I won’t support anyone who doesn’t come out unequivocably for the Second Amendment and I don’t think Mike fits that requirement.
