Mainstream Media Is a Buzz with Mike Bloomberg
Even though he is in China, Mike Bloomberg was all across America yesterday. The Wall Street Journal published the most interesting version of the impending Bloomberg run to date. “Where Bloomberg Fits in Election” is a rundown of the issues and opponents Bloomberg needs to make a successful bid. Unsurprisingly, a weak economy and institutional distrust of Congress favor the mayor heavily. Whereas Bloomberg’s optimal opponents may be John Edwards and Mike Huckabee, allowing his moderate stances to contrast against their extremes. (There is also a poll, be sure to vote!)
Another article written along the same lines, appeared in the politico today. Entitled, “Could Bloomberg enter in the middle?”, it focussed on the Obama v. Huckabee v. Bloomberg matchup. Not as enlightening, but interesting none-the-less to see Washington finally start to catch on, that the next president is not in the race yet.
Finally, a hard-hitting piece appeared in the Bucyrus Telegraph Forum of Ohio. It speaks to the growing sense of frustration people are feeling with their current choices, and the realization that we can do better. “Third-party candidate might have a real chance in 2008“. One way or another this sentiment is going to play a large role in the upcoming election - America is ready to say good-bye to politics as usual.
