Mike Bloomberg Versus Huckabee and Potholes
Over at Race42008, there is an active and lively debate about “Bloomania”, “Bloombergism”, and “Bloombergery” or whatever witty term they are using to describe people who are looking for a sensible moderate solution in the 2008 Presidential race. There are two things I find interesting about the discussion they are having:
- If Mike Huckabee wins, then Mike Bloomberg will run.
- Mike Bloomberg will get serious between Super Tuesday and March 5th.
At an NYC-based blog called the Gothamist, they describe the pothole problem in New York City at some length. Apparently, if you use the new information line (311), you can report a problem such as a pothole and the government actually responds. The results? 99% of potholes filled within 30 days, as opposed to 66% in 2002. That seems absolutely astounding to me, a government that responds to people just like a customer/citizen oriented enterprise. I think that’s called innovation, but I’m not sure because I live in DC.
