Re: Think About Bloomberg for President
On our U4M Team Conference Call last night, Kate read us an email that she sent out to over a 100 of her friends out of her Outlook address book. I was so touched by it, I asked her to resend it to me so I could share it with you. It follows below:

Re: Think about Bloomberg!!!
Think about what this country needs…a proven leader, who owes nothing to anybody; who listens to those qualified to speak on the issues; who makes decisions on what is truly best for the city (at this point); who is NON-PARTISAN with no axe to grind or anything to prove; with a strong enough ego to make a decision but not so strong that he won’t listen to others in making those decisions…& I hope you’ll consider Bloomberg as the best hope this country has.
My concern has been that he would split the vote & a less desirable candidate would win the presidency…however, from what I’ve seen & heard, many, many Americans are dissatisfied with the unabashedly partisan approach the candidates up for consideration now take & I’m beginning to think that Bloomberg has a good chance because of all the voters who now declare themselves to be “independents”. Maybe Americans will finally vote in droves for the one candidate who can put us back on the right track…I certainly hope so!!
Please give this e-mail some thought at least. Thanks…!

Yes, funny you should mention New Hampshire, Ben. I was feeling a bit disappointed in the outcome of Oklahoma. Honestly, it seemed a bit anti-climactic, and Obama stole a lot of the thunder by co-opting the forum’s message (smart move on his part).
But then I saw the results coming in for New Hampshire today.
Furthermore, when I see this in CNN:
> In Tuesday’s primaries, both Democrats and Republicans
> rated the economy as the most important issue in the
> primaries, and almost all voters said they were worried
> about it, exit polls show.
It see how it plays into Mike’s strengths.
I’m still holding out hope that he will jump in.

Hillary wins NH: My reading of this is that America has descended to politics of the heart rather than the head; the politics and culture of personality cult, the tribe and the monarchist, rather than the commonweal - that which you would expect in Spain under Franco, in Pakistan under Bhutto. The gate opens again for Bloomberg (bring Arnold!) to return us to mature and rational governance and the enlightened tradition from which we emerged.

It would not be fair to compare Mike’s run for President with Ross Perot’s fiasco. Perot did not have the political experience Mayor Bloomberg presents. Mike would easily carry New York and the entire east coast. Since there is no clear front runner in GOP and Dems, with some campaigning for Mike its almost a no-brainer. American’s are pissed, every day they go to the gas stations, and empty their wallets just to start.
