Democratic Presidential Candidates Deadset On Imploding While Economy Tanks?
For the second time on the campaign trail, High-level people associated with the Clinton campaign have singled out Obama’s teenage drug use as further evidence that he is unfit to become President. Now I’m not precisely sure where Hillary was when Bill “smoked, but never inhaled”, but I also don’t care, because I am more worried about the economy.
In the Obama camp, allegations of racism are being cast toward Bill Clinton for recent comments he has made. Before Obama, a Nobel winning author (Toni Morrison) made the controversial claim that Bill was the “First Black President.” Somehow I don’t see the Clinton camp trying to pro actively manipulate a message of racism for votes.
That being said, is this really the kind of “Change” and “Experience” we want from Obama and Clinton?
Meanwhile all across America, people are worried about the economy. There has been a flurry of discussion about recession in 2008, and none of these candidates seem interested in address this problem in a substantive way. Similarly, the media outlets are having far too much fun selling stories of racism and drug use to the people, while refusing to turn up the heat on the candidates to answer the specifics of what they will do to guide the economy through turbulence. In Washington D.C. our leaders are frozen in partisan gridlock, with neither Republicans nor Democrats willing to step up and offer leadership instead of partisanship. In regards to the economy, we can no longer afford to wast time.
The volunteer staff at UniteForMike is concerned about these and other issues. In the current crop of Presidential candidates, we don’t see an effective leader who is willing to step up and deliver. This is why we are asking Mike Bloomberg to come forward and present an actionable plan to the country for progress; because no-one seems willing to do so.

It’s a bit sad that these candidates appear to be one tactical step away from the technique we saw in the movie “Pee Wee Herman’s Big Adventure”:
“I know you are but what am I?”
“I know you are but what am I?”
“I know you are but what am I?”
“I know you are but what am I?”
But maybe it’s for the best. Let them play these childish games. Maybe it will take the nomination all the way down to the wire.
Maybe in that time Mike can distinguish himself from this silly game and talk about real solutions and win over people who are sick of this circus.

One thing that I took away from the Bipartisan summit in Oklahoma was that they were asking the people and the media to stand up to the candidates for real answers. As long as the major newspapers and 24-hr news channels are willing to cover this Jerry Springer garbage as “highly important news”, we are never gong to get our priorities right as a country.

Politics as usual… such a joke… there’s such a disconnect between these people running for president and the people who will be voting for them…

I agree with Andrew that the media (and the activist bases in BOTH parties BTW)will if given their druthers “Tabloidize” this election to the hilt. That Will be harder to do if Bloomie is in there and/or if McCain and Obama emerge.
Not so sure of the reacting to the economy imploding thing you mention. That is short-term thinking (too much of that knee-jerk hyper-responsive panderizing stuff in this town that digs out hole further and works to make things worse not better. Rather I hope Bloomie and the rational Center can hammer away on the medium/long-term economic issues that REALLY threaten our nation - namely the growing unfunded Entitlements mandate ($50 trillion and rapidly growing).
I know it’s the Third Rail and all but gotta do it and Bloomie could be the guys with the insulator gloves to maybe make the first move on it! If not, our nation’s goose is cooked!!
